The Royal Navy Cricket Teams, both male and female, recently visited Gibraltar for a training camp where they made use of the fantastic facilities throughout the week. As part of their training, they played two games against local teams, with the Gibraltar Ladies Select defeating the Royal Navy Women's XI and the Gibraltar Men's side losing out to their male counterparts.
Although the games were not official matches, they served as good practice games for both teams. The Royal Navy Cricket Teams are preparing for their upcoming fixtures, while the Gibraltar teams are also gearing up for their participation in the ECN T10i tournament in Portugal.
There were some notable performances in both games, including Gibraltarian Chrissie McNally's superb batting performance, scoring her first-ever half-century whilst batting the full 20 overs. Megan Mumford also had a great game, taking three wickets- a promising performance ! Captain, Avinash Pai, performed well with both bat and ball.
Overall, the games were a great opportunity for both teams to gain some valuable practice ahead of their upcoming fixtures. The Royal Navy Cricket Teams will undoubtedly have learned a lot from their time in Gibraltar and we hope to welcome the back on the Rock very soon.
